Jury trial for Gloucester Jan. 6 defendant set for Nov. 14

A jury trial for Jan. 6 defendant Melody Steele-Smith of Gloucester has been scheduled for Nov. 14.
Steele-Smith was arrested by the FBI on Jan. 20, 2021, after a relative reported that she had shared photos from inside the Capitol on Facebook, including a photo taken in the office of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
The defendant was released on her own recognizance. She stands accused of five criminal counts: obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, entering and remaining in certain rooms in the Capitol building, and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building.
The trial will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14 before Judge D. Moss in Courtroom 8 of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C.
