A fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 10, in Smithfield to benefit Gloucester resident Tim Worrell, who is battling Stage 4 lymphoma.
The cruise-in/barbecue fundraiser will be held from noon-5 p.m. at NAPA Auto Parts/Keen’s at 1802 S. Church Street in Smithfield. Worrell is a native of Isle of Wight County, within which Smithfield is located.
The fundraiser is free to the public with a $10 entry for autos. Hot air balloon rides will be available for a donation, as will a pork barbecue lunch, and a gun raffle cost is $20. All proceeds will go to the Tim Worrell Cancer Fund.
Other attractions include a music by Tom Norris, an autograph session with Larry “Spiderman” McBride, and a top fuel bike world record holder.
People interested in sponsorships or volunteering are asked to contact twcancerfund@gmail.com.
A separate GoFundMe drive for Worrell has been established, and notes that this is his fourth battle with cancer, working through treatment the first three times. He is currently commuting for chemotherapy to the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, and needs an apartment within 30 minutes of the hospital for intense treatment at a later date, the fund drive said.
