Julie Spence, 54, of Mathews, died Feb. 15, 2016 at her home of lung cancer.

Her career included being a gemologist in St. Thomas and working at JenCare in Richmond as an x-ray technician. Julie was a loving daughter, sister and friend. She will be missed.

She is survived by her parents, James and Carmela Spence, and brother, Tom Spence.

A special thank you is extended to all her friends in Mathews and Deltaville for their special friendship to Julie. We also thank Marianne and Tony and Louie for all their kindness and loyalty in befriending our daughter and to Dee and Bon Secours Hospice for their care and support.  

A gathering of friends will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, from 2-3 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Inurnment will be private.

In memory of Julie, the family requests donations be given to Bon Secours Hospice, 485 Rodman Avenue, Portsmouth, Va. 23707.
