Julian “Jay” Edward Rector Jr., 80, of Gloucester, died Oct. 23, 2017.

He was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Manassas, Virginia, to Julian Sr. and Estelle Rector. 

Jay was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was devoted to his family and friends, and always ready to help anyone in need. Although we will miss him, his smile, and his love, we take consolation in the good feelings of our memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Barbara Rector.

Jay is survived by his wife, Nell W. Rector; children, Susan Rector and Teresa Hylton; stepson, Michael Walker and wife Donna; sister, Joyce Corbin; step-grandchildren, John Nathan Walker and McKenzie Walker, and nephews, Peter Corbin and Daniel Corbin. 

A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service on Friday from 10:30-11:30 at the funeral home.
