JULIA LEE TYLER

Julia Lee Tyler, age 65, of Mathews, died Aug. 23, 2013 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

Julia was the owner of Cattails Fine Gifts and many other floral shops. She was an innovative people person with a go-getter attitude and never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Allen Thacker; father, Herbert Hansford; mother, Edna H. Brake, and brother, Earl Hansford.

She is survived by her husband, Owen L. Tyler; sisters, J. Dale LeProil and husband Ray, Kim Longden and husband Billy; brothers, Sonny Hansford and wife Brenda, Billy Hansford and wife Cindy, Joe Hansford and wife Marie; best friends, Carol Joyce, Jeannie Elliott and Lynn Kucker, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. A Celebration of Julia’s Life was held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jay Butcher, the Rev. Randy Garner and the Rev. Eddie Heath. Inurnment was private.
