A memorial service for Judy Hogge Federer of San Luis Obispo, Calif., was held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 6 in Mountainbrook Community Church, San Luis Obispo. She died Thursday, April 25, 2013.

She was born Merrill Jean to the late Virginia and William Hogge in 1929 in Gloucester. Her father nicknamed her Judy, and that is what she was called throughout her life. She graduated in 1946 from Achilles High School and in 1951 from Elizabeth Buxton Hospital School of Nursing of Newport News.

She was active in the Cal Poly Woman’s Club, 4-H, and Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include four children and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lydia and Clarice, and brothers, Elbert and Maywood.
