JUANITA DIGGS BURROUGHS

Juanita Diggs Burroughs, 87, of Mathews, passed away on April 15, 2011, after a long, wonderful life.

Juanita was the beloved wife of Robert Burroughs. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and James Diggs; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Jeffrey Steinhoff, and son and daughter-in-law, Kerry and Carol Hall. She was the devoted sister of the late Holland Diggs. She will also be lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and many close family members and friends. She is survived by her first husband, Gilbert Hall.

Juanita was born in Mathews to Willard and Maude Hudgins Diggs. She attended St. Paul United Methodist Church and was an active member of her community, volunteering as PTA President and Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and raising funds for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. She was a dedicated member of the DAR for over 40 years. Juanita lived in several countries, including Argentina, Venezuela, Canada, Iraq, and the Philippines, before returning to Mathews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on April 24 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Julie Larch conducting the service.
