JS Esthetics opens at Gloucester Point

Master Esthetician Jen Schuman opened her own business, JS Esthetics, on April 4 at Little England Mercantile in Gloucester Point.

“I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2007,” said Schuman.

She was transferred to the Gloucester Ulta Beauty location after moving to the area in 2019. The business needed another esthetician, and Schuman began working to earn her credentials. She graduated from the Professional Esthetics program at American Spirit Institute in Williamsburg in September 2020 and earned her credentials to become a Master Esthetician the following May. After leaving Ulta Beauty, she worked at a local salon for two years.

“I’m very skin care focused,” said Schuman.

Schuman understands the importance of skin health, and every treatment is tailored to each individual.

“Your skin is an organ,” she said. “It’s your body’s largest organ.”

According to Schuman, skin changes all the time, and every treatment requires a thorough skin analysis.

“Your skin is different every single day,” she said.

Before her current career, Schuman spent six years working at a blood bank. According to Schuman, esthetics involves “a lot of science. There’s a lot of know-how.” Her background in the medical field has given her a unique perspective as a master esthetician, as it involves being knowledgeable about medications and diseases.

“It helps me every single day,” she said about her experience.

Schuman treats men, women and teenagers, and said she specializes more in anti-aging than in acne, though. She offers chemical peels, dermaplaning, expert facials, brow tinting and more.

JS Esthetics can be reached at 804-637-7472 and jenschumanesthetics@gmail.com. The business can also be found on Facebook at Jen Schuman Esthetics and Instagram @jenschumanesthetics. Schuman takes clients Wednesday through Saturday by appointment only. The shop also has gift cards available.
