JOSEPHINE SONYA HOPKINS

Josephine (Josie) Sonya Hopkins, 19, daughter of Mark and Sonya Dunton Hopkins, was born on Jan. 6, 1997. She left her earthly home on Dec. 11, 2016 and went to be with her Lord and Savior.

Josie grew up in The Plains, Virginia; however, she loved to spend the summer and vacations on Gwynn’s Island, Virginia, surrounded by family, beach and water. She never let weather, be it cold or blazing hot, keep her from jumping in with both feet to take a hike, jump off a pier, ski wide open down a mountain slope or run down the road with the family dog, Lilly.

Josie is survived by her parents, Mark and Sonya Hopkins, and her brother, Benjamin Hopkins, of The Plains. Josie also leaves her maternal grandparents, Sonya and John Dixon of Gwynn’s Island; paternal grandparents, Alexandra and Albert Parsons of Virginia Beach; her special aunt, Mary Lou Bodurtha (John) of Mathews, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Josie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Wilton E. Dunton (Bud).

Josie had much compassion for others in need.
