Joseph G. Camacho, known to his friends as Joe and his grandchildren as Papa Joe, passed away peacefully Monday, June 10, 2013, at his Heywood Creek home.

Born Sept. 13, 1922 on Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., Joe was 90 years old. He was a veteran of World War II and proudly served at Pearl Harbor and Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star.

He is survived by his two daughters, Barb Clark and husband Dave and their son Jonathan of Las Vegas, Nev., Yvonne Wingrove and husband Lester of Hayes, Va., and their children Michael of Manhattan, N.Y., and Emily of Miami, Fla.; sister, Virginia Maciel and her children Raymond and Kathleen of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.

The family requests donations made to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society or the Abingdon Rescue Squad.
