JOSEPH BENJAMIN “BEN” JORDAN

Joseph Benjamin “Ben” Jordan, 84, of Gloucester, Va., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.

He was born in Elizabeth City, N.C., to the late Nathan B. and Callie Benton Jordan. Ben was an ammunition inspector at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown and retired in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Reedswood Christian Church in Gloucester, and served his country in the U.S. Army.

He loved his country music and played with some of the local bands. He also loved fishing, hunting, flowers and his garden. He was Christ-like, so we know that he is in heaven listening to some good music.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Jordan; his children, Linda Nuttall and her husband William, William Jordan and his wife Sandy, Treena Jordan, Kathy Gay and her husband Mylan, and Gary Jordan, all of Gloucester; his sister, Jean England and her husband Bill of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, and a very special nephew, Joe Jordan and his wife Vicky.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at 12 p.m. in Reedswood Christian Church by Pastor Dave Thornton.

Memorial donations may be made to either Reedswood Christian Church, P.O. Box 1097, Gloucester, Va. 23061, or to Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
