JORDAN HALE STEWART

Jordan Hale Stewart, 13, of Mathews, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and special friends.

Jordan was born on June 20, 2002.

He is survived by his father, Richard Franklin Stewart; mother, Teresa West Stewart; sister, Lindsey Marie; grandparents, Richard Lee and Betsy Ann Stewart, and Bobby and Betty West; uncles, Robby West, Michael Stewart and his wife Elizabeth; cousins, Wesley, Madalyn, Megan, Michael Todd and Whitney.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Janice Lee Mitchem. 

He loved the outdoors and took every opportunity he had to hunt and fish and was always in pursuit of a “big buck.” During the summer, he enjoyed cutting grass for family, friends, neighbors or anyone with a yard. He enjoyed playing baseball and participated in Mathews Little League from tee-ball through the minor leagues and in the Stars of Tomorrow tournament as a pitcher and outfielder.

Jordan had a knack for making people laugh and could always bring a smile to anyone’s face. He was a 7th grade student at Thomas Hunter Middle School.

The family received friends on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, Diggs, Va. A funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Christ Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salem Church Building Fund, Attn: Kevin Hogge, P.O. Box 474, Mathews, Va. 23109 or to the Mathews Little League, P.O. 1001, Mathews, Va. 23109.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, was in charge of the arrangements.
