Jonathan “Johnny” Levi Driver, 74, of Newport News, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025.
He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester County, until relocating to Hampton and then Newport News. He was a 1969 graduate of Gloucester High School and former employee of Virginia Power and Newport News Shipbuilding.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Thompson; daughter, Carla Rhodes, both of Gloucester; brothers, Fred Driver of Fort Myers, Fla., and Randolph Driver of Mitchellville, Md.; sister, Kathleen Driver, also of Mitchellville, Md.; siblings, Norma J. Hatot-King of Elizabeth City, N.C., Dr. Brian Hatot and Dennis Hatot, both of Glenn Dale, Md.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Delores Booth Driver; his father, Samuel Herbert Driver, and his brother, Herbert Vernon Driver.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The family visitation and viewing will begin at 1 p.m.
