Jon Dennis Newell, 74, of Gloucester, Va. passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012.

He was born in Richmond, Va. to the late Harry Lee and Mamie Newton Newell Sr. He was a member of Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester and also the Friendship Sunday School Class. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and was retired from Civil Service where he was Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair. He received several outstanding service awards during his career.

He is survived by his wife, Joan B. Newell; daughter, Mary Ellen Golden and her husband Clinton; son, Timothy Farrow, and brother, Harry Lee Newell Jr. and his wife Johnnie.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Bellamy United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ken Waclo.

Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, is in charge of arrangements.
