Jon Albert Noble, 89, a proud resident of Mathews, Virginia, since 1995, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy marked by hard work, service, and quiet devotion to those he loved.
Jon began his life of service at just 17 years old. Over the decades, he wore many hats—United States Marine, Merchant Marine, longshoreman, bus driver, and assistant animal warden for Mathews County. He was perhaps best known locally for his decades as a school bus driver in Mathews and for his gentle, caring nature while serving as the assistant animal warden.
Jon deeply cherished the peaceful, private life he shared with his wife, Joan, on Harmony Farm. Together, they enjoyed the tranquility of country life alongside his beloved dog, Shadow, who rarely left his side.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Noble; his sons, Marcus, Ransom, and Ethan, and his stepsons, Edward, Richard, Thomas, and Joseph. His strength, humility, and love will be remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
A service to honor Jon’s life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Gwynn’s Island Church of the Nazarene. The family welcomes friends and community members to join in celebrating the life of a man who touched so many through his steady presence and quiet strength.
Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, is assisting the family.
