JOHN WALTER ‘JACK’ AINSLIE SR.

John Walter “Jack” Ainslie Sr., 88, of Virginia Beach, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019.

Born in Rockland, New York, he was the son of the late James Walter and Gertrude Cline Ainslie. He was also predeceased by his previous wife, Janice Ainslie, and his daughter, Susan Chapman Ainslie.

Jack will be remembered for his love of boating, enjoying the coastal waters from Canada to the Bahamas and many special places in between. As a professional home builder, Jack was an integral part of the Dragas Companies and R.G. Moore Building Corp., as they provided homes for thousands of families throughout Hampton Roads. He also taught business, marketing and finance at ODU and TCC. He was a longtime active member in The Broad Bay Sailing Association, Town Point Yacht Club, and Tidewater Builders Association. 

Remaining family includes his wife, Debbie Morris Ainslie; sons, Jeff Ainslie (Ruby) and John Ainslie (Mindi); a daughter, Misty England; grandchildren, Michelle Renee Fackler (Cole), Renee Christine Fournier, Brooke Elizabeth Ainslie, Marissa England and Keirstyn Crawford; great-grandchildren, Ainslie Mae Fackler and Cruz Morris Fackler; siblings, Joan King and Jim Ainslie, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.     

A celebration of Jack’s life was conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at Spring Branch Community Church, Virginia Beach.

Jack cherished his dogs and children, so in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CHKD, your local SPCA, or to Garden of the Pines Pet Cemetery, Salem Road, Virginia Beach.
