John Robert Dixon Sr., “Johnny Cake,” 67, of Mathews, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Walter Reed Convalescent Center.

He is survived by three children, Melanie S. Funches, John R. Dixon Jr. (Charmaine), and Julie Battle; three grandchildren, Robert, Kristian and AAron Dixon; two sisters, Shirley Billups and Betty Ann Dixon; six brothers, Willie Dixon, Richard Dixon, Charles Dixon, George Dixon, Stanley Dixon, and Terry Dixon, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Mathews. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday at Forrest Bros. Funeral Home, Hudgins.
