John R. Carter of Mathews passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 at home.

Survivors include his wife, Maude A. Carter; son, John Lamont “Marty” Carter, and a stepgrandson.

Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2, at Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins. 

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, Oct. 3, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Cobbs Creek. Burial will be in church cemetery.
