JOHN L. FIRTH IV

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, “Little John” of Gloucester County, was ushered into his heavenly home by the angels. John L. Firth IV, known to family and friends as “Little John” or “Bubby” is the son of John L. Firth III and Michelle Hogge Firth and was born on May 18, 1981. He was a faithful watcher of Bonanza, Scooby Doo, and WWE, Rick Flair being his favorite wrestler. Little John loved riding the golf cart with his dad and grandparents around Gloucester Golf Course, trips to the beach, singing Happy Birthday, and playing with his nieces. In his younger years, he could be found greeting people at the golf course clubhouse and socializing at the ball fields while cheering on his sister.

Paternal grandparents, John L. Firth Jr. and Barbara Firth, preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Mara Lenz (Daniel), and two beautiful nieces, Blakely and Hadley; maternal grandparents, Tom and Betty Jean Hogge; aunts, Kelly Hogge Fowler (Jason), Debra Firth Diggs (Elmer), and his uncle, Eddie Hogge (Deanna), as well as numerous cousins. The family received friends Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service conducted by the Rev. Tom Cohick was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Providence Baptist Church, 3501 Providence Road, Hayes, Va. 23072; interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. We would like to thank special caregivers, Christina Paine, Tracie Payne, and Beth Caulley, for the love and care they provided Little John, as well as Dr. Haggerty and his staff for their care. In memory of our loved one, contributions may be made to Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 1417, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
