JOHN L. ENNIS

A service of Christian Liturgy for John L. Ennis, 84, of Gloucester, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Gloucester. He died March 25, 2016.

He was born March 18, 1932 in Bronx, N.Y., to John and Vivian Ennis, who preceded him in death. He graduated with a teaching degree from Adelphi University, Long Island, N.Y., and earned his master’s degree in counseling from Hofstra University. He retired from Commack South High School after 30 years of teaching. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah L. Ennis; children, John Ennis, Kevin Ennis, Michael Ennis, Anne Campbell and Patrick Ennis; stepdaughters, Jennifer Schoenfeld-Quail, Katherine Ferguson, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The service will be conducted by the Rev. James Cowles. Inurnment will be later in Arlington National Cemetery.
