JOHN JAMES MARINKE JR.

John James Marinke Jr., age 67, of Gloucester Point, died peacefully in his home on Friday, April 28, 2023, surrounded by his wife and daughters. A native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Beaver Falls High School Class of 1973; St. Leo College, and Florida Institute of Technology with Master’s degrees. He retired from USAF in 1995 as Chief Master Sergeant. He continued his career as General Contractor at LAFB until retirement in 2018. John was a fun-loving, spirited soul who loved golfing and boating, driving his Vette, and waving his Terrible Towel for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved the outdoors, his family, and spending time serving on various ministries at St. Joan of Arc. His parents, John and Wanda, as well as his sisters, Mary Ann and Joni, preceded him in death. JJ is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wanda Lynn Marinke; children, Leanne Quinn (Steve), Samantha Fleck (Ian), and Jaimee Pilkington (John). He was “Gpa” to his seven grandchildren, Tanner, Laney, Brooke, Tucker, Reese, Owen, and Marin. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 315 Harris Grove Lane, Yorktown, Virginia 23692. A Mass of Resurrection, conducted by Father Michael Joly, will begin at 11 o’clock, followed by a reception. In memory of our loved one, contributions may be made to www.pancan.org.
