JOHN ‘JACK’ CHARLES SCHWEICKARDT

John “Jack” Charles Schweickardt, born in Pittsburgh, Pa., a lifelong resident of Hampton Roads, Va., passed away peacefully at 74 on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Jack worked in the hotel industry his whole life, starting at 14, from carrying luggage to maintenance. He loved working with his hands and could fix anything. He had a wonderful and quirky sense of humor and loved to sing and dance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Cyrilla Schweickardt, and by his wife and mother of his child, Nancy Nuttall Schweickardt, and his spouse he met later in life, Ann. He is survived by his daughter, Megan (Matt); granddaughter, Ellise; sisters, Dorothy (Owen), and Ruth; sister-in-law, Lou (Kent), and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nephews and great-nieces. A celebration of life service will be held at Denbigh United Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2 p.m., conducted by Pastor Deborah Dail. The inurnment will be private. In memory of Jack, contributions may be made to Denbigh United Presbyterian Church, 302 Denbigh Blvd., Newport News, Va. 23608.
