JOHN HENRY TURNER

John Henry Turner, 69, of Gloucester, died at his home March 10, 2016.

John was born Jan. 7, 1947 in Whiteville, N.C. to Shelby and Mae Turner. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved horses, traveling and fishing and was a Yankee’s fan. He had a quiet easy going manner with a heart full of kindness and a sense of adventure. He loved his family and took pride in his family and home.

We were honored to have John in our lives. We will see you again one day in Heaven, our dearly beloved John.

He is survived by his wife, Burline Turner; daughters, Lisa Shifflett and husband Wayne, Rhonda Phillips and husband Mike and Kim James and husband Bryan; son, John W. Turner and Kathey; sister, Eunice Hanson and husband Marvin; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service with military honors conducted by the Rev. Tom Cohick was held 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at Hampton Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends assembled at the cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
