JOHN CHRISTOPHER SLAVNIK

John Christopher Slavnik of Hayes, owner of Slavnik Construction, LLC, Hayes, died unexpectedly Nov. 3, 2018 at the age of 48.

John was a lifelong native of Gloucester. His motto in life was simple: family first. John loved the Outer Banks in North Carolina, NASCAR racing, and the Dallas Cowboys.

John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ida Steel and Fudgeo; paternal grandparents, Jack and Peggy Slavnik, and mother-in-law, Carolyn Turlington.

He is survived by his wife, Tracie; their children, John Christopher Slavnik II and Morgan Nicole Slavnik; mother, Jean H. Greene; father, John F. Slavnik III (Cheryl); four siblings, Katie Slavnik, Matthew Slavnik (Erin), Shane Slavnik (Brittney) and Brooke Slavnik; father-in-law, Kenneth Turlington; sister-in-law, Susan Turlington; brother-in-law, Kenneth Turlington Jr.; five nieces and one nephew; along with a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives; his faithful canine, Bailey, and felines, Spooky and Cheeto. He also will be missed by his workers and friends who meant so much to him.

A Celebration of Life service, conducted by the Rev. Chris McMillan, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at Providence Baptist Church. Inurnment will be private. The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6-7:30 p.m. 

As his final farewell tribute, wear your Dallas Cowboys football attire to his Celebration of Life service.
