JOANNE OLIVER LEWIS

JoAnne Oliver Lewis, 78, of Gloucester Point, died July 16, 2013 at Morningside of Newport News.

JoAnne was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church, singing in the church choir, serving on the administrative board and numerous other committees. She retired from York County as a Program Manager of Project Insight and House Arrest for the Juvenile Services Division.

She loved music and enjoyed reading. She was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Sutton Lewis; parents, H. Carter Oliver and Florence Oliver Estes; brothers-in-law, William, Arthur, Harold, Lester and Ralph Lewis.

She is survived by her sons, H. Wade Lewis and wife Pam, and Brian D. Lewis; granddaughter, Reagan Montgomery and husband Jason, Heather Baker and husband Chad; great-grandchildren, Emma and Kenley Montgomery, Savannah, Taylor and Luke Baker; sisters-in-law, Virginia Lewis Kerns and husband Robert V. Kerns Sr., Alice Lewis and Phyllis Lewis; a host of nephews and nieces and special friends.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Debbie Marion were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Bethany United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Gloucester Point Cemetery. The family received friends Friday, July 19, 2013, from 7-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
