JoAnne Harris seeks second term as Commissioner of Revenue

JoAnne Harris has announced that she is seeking a second term Gloucester County’s Commissioner of the Revenue.

Harris began serving in the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office in 1983 under the helm of Charles Stubblefield. At that time she was a general clerk and worked in all areas of office operations.

Stubblefield retired and Kevin Wilson became commissioner in 2004. Harris served under Wilson for 15 years as a real estate technician III. She worked in the real estate department and managed all real estate transactions as well as the land use program, elderly and disabled program, and the disabled veterans program.

During that time, Harris worked towards her certification through the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and obtained her Master Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue certification in 2012.

After Wilson retired in 2019, Harris ran for the position of Commissioner of Revenue and won the election; her term commenced on Jan. 1, 2020.
