Joanna Kaiser, 84, of Newport News, Va., born and raised in Miles in Mathews County, Va., went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on March 11, 2013.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Kaiser. She proudly served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the U.S. Navy in the Nurses Corps.

She is survived by her nephew, Thomas Lorenzo Kimball of Mathews, and two great-nephews, Matthew Thomas Kimball of Chesterfield, Va., and Robert Andrew Kimball of Mathews.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St in Norfolk, Va.
