Joan M. Allen, 87, went to be with her Lord on Aug. 26, 2018.

She was born in Wanamie, Pennsylvania. She worked at Bolling Air Force Base and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., before moving to Mathews County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Allen; her parents; sister, Ruthanne Crocker, and stepdaughter, Joan Shepherd. 

Joan and Edward enjoyed many years of fishing and traveling around our great country.

She is survived by stepsons, David (Becky), Richard (Sandy), Donald (Trisha); stepdaughter Linda (Nathan); 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Faith Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Sept. 15. Following the memorial service, there will be a reception at the Westville Baptist Fellowship Hall. She will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
