JO ANN CLEMENTS DUTTON

Jo Ann Clements Dutton, 66, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Fary’s Mill Road in the Pinero section of Gloucester County on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019. 

Ms. Dutton was born on Nov. 13, 1952 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to the late William A. “Nookie” and Barbara Jenkins Clements. 

She was a registered nurse who graduated from the Richmond Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1973.  She was a public health nurse for what is now the Virginia Department of Health’s Three Rivers Health District. She also worked at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg. 

After the birth of her children, she returned to work at Sanders Nursing Home, where she became Director of Nursing. Subsequently, she worked for Woodside Hospital in Newport News and Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents in New Kent. 

She is survived by her three sons, Nicholas Clements Dutton and his husband Michael Stone of Glen Allen, Seth Clements Dutton and his fiancée Jessica Lofurno of Northumberland, and Elliott Clements Dutton and his wife Lisa Marie Marston Dutton of Gloucester; her daughter-in-spirit, Cara Carmine Wiggins and her husband Colter Wiggins of Denver, Colorado, and her grandchildren Dewy and Braedon.

She is also survived by her mother, Barbara Clements; her sister, Diane Clements Gamache, and her former husband, William E. “Billy” Dutton.  

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 18 from 7-8 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home at 7192 Main Street in Gloucester.
