Jessica’s on Main is the newest restaurant on Gloucester’s Main Street. The new dining establishment opened for business March 17. Melissa Hartman is the owner.

Hartman said the opportunity arose to lease the building, which has housed several other restaurants, and she jumped at the chance to offer an upscale dining experience on Main Street. She also owns the more casual Jessica’s Sweet Shop, a café and bakery located nearby that has been in business for about 10 years.

A key to the new restaurant, Hartman said, is having an experienced chef on board. Todd Hirschberg of Mathews, who has been in the restaurant business for approximately 35 years and previously owned Chef Todd’s restaurant in Mathews, is in charge of the kitchen.

Sonja Berg of Gloucester, is the general manager. Berg has 23 years’ restaurant experience.
