Jerry West of Wicomico, died unexpectedly at Riverside Regional Medical Center on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017.

Jerry was born in Canton, North Carolina, the youngest of Laydon Monroe West and Lucy Trull West’s 10 children. He graduated from Canton’s Bethel High School in 1959.

Jerry is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 55 years, Gayle Reece West; two sons, Jay (Rob) of Silver Spring, Maryland and Derek (Moria) of Hayes; two grandsons, Colton and Cooper West; two sisters, Joyce Pizzeck of Hampton, and Rosemary Hutchins of Black Mountain, North Carolina, and brother, Laydon West of Hampton.

Besides his family, some of the things he loved most in life were his home on Timberneck Creek, fresh vegetables from his garden, Christmas, the Fourth of July, and planning the next great adventure with his and Gayle’s travel buddies, Gena and Donnie Silver.

Jerry was an independent accountant and business consultant for over 40 years. He enjoyed the challenge of serving a diverse array of clients in the construction, automotive, restaurant, real estate, and landscaping industries, to name a few. He loved his work and the many good friends he made through it.

Jerry’s family would like to give a very special thanks to Linda Sollars, his assistant of more than 25 years.

The family will receive visitors at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. A memorial service will follow at 2 o’clock.
