JERRY R. MCKENDREE

Jerry R. McKendree, of Gloucester Point, husband of Emma "Deannie" McKendree went home to the Lord on March 18, 2012.

He was the love of Deannie’s life for 55 years, and they were seldom seen apart.

Born on Dec. 19, 1933, Jerry was the son of the late Raymond McKendree and the late Edna Smythe. Jerry served his country in the Korean War and retired from a long career at Newport News Shipyard.

Jerry was a long-time member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Gloucester Point, and served as a volunteer EMT for the community rescue squad.

Jerry and his wife Deannie moved to Downingtown, Pa., to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.

Jerry was the beloved and proud father of the late Roger McKendree and Sharon Krall, and grandfather of Stephanie and Patrick Krall.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Russel, of Jordan, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by brothers, George and Theril McKendree, and sister, Lennie Bell Redding.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Arthur L. Wolz Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1860 Hayes Rd., Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
