JEROME THEODORE BIERMANN

Jerome (Jerry) Theodore Biermann, 82, of Gloucester, born Oct. 22, 1930 to Wilhelm and Louise Biermann in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed on to our Heavenly Father Oct. 12, 2012 from complications resulting in congestive heart failure.

He grew up in Ohio and when he was able he joined the United States Navy, serving as a corpsman, not only for the Navy but also the U.S. Marines and Army. After being honorably discharged he continued his education and graduated from Ohio State University with a B.A. in Hospital Administration.

He worked at the University of Penn Hospital as the administrator for many years. Upon retiring, he went on to help develop and manage several more clinics in the Midwest on his way to full retirement in Gloucester, Va.

He returned to work as a helper and bus driver on the handicapped bus in the Achilles area. This was one of the greatest highlights in his life. He loved all the children he helped care for.

He married Luella A. Giles on April 11, 1953 and raised two children, John and Barbara (Kate). He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. He has five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Colonial Harbor (Independent Retirement Living), 2405 Fort Eustis Boulevard, Yorktown.
