Jefferson Lab to hold ‘Scientist Walks into a Bar’ program

The Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility—better known locally as Jefferson Lab—will hold its first “Scientist Walks into a Bar” program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Tradition Brewing Co., 700 Thimble Shoals Boulevard, Newport News.

Free and open to the public, this inaugural event will focus on how artificial intelligence and machine learning affect daily lives and change the way we work.

Stuart Henderson, director of the Jefferson Lab, will moderate the conversation, which will include scientists from the facility, along with experts and representatives from regional businesses and organizations that use artificial intelligence/machine learning in their daily operations.The event will conclude with “Open the Tap,” a Q&A session that will address topics related to science and technology.
