JEANNE L. BURNS

Jeanne L. Burns of Grimstead, 78 years old, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011.

She was born to William Gerald Lanterman and Carolyn Fielding Lanterman in Essex, N.J, on June 4, 1933.

She attended college in Richmond, Va., studying to be an occupational therapist where she met her husband, James H. Burns Jr. They wed in 1954 and settled in the family home on Gwynn’s Island, where she remained a resident for 57 years.

She worked as a nurse at Eastern State Hospital for 16 years, after which she retired. She enjoyed her gardening, cooking, friends and family.

Those who are left behind are her daughter, Diana Turner; son-in-law, Beau Turner III; grandson, Ray Bondranko; granddaughter, Valerie Allison; grandson-in-law, Phillip Allison Jr. and four great-granddaughters, Brianna, Sonya, Josephine Allison and Scarlett Neumyer; two great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Cambria; sister-in-law, Betty Lanterman, and three nephews, Tom, Tim and Jerry Lanterman, plus many more family and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and love.

We would like to thank all those who made her life here better and enjoyable including Hospice, Meals on Wheels, rescue squad and Walter Reed Hospital.

A memorial will be held at Living Waters Church in Dutton, Va. on Nov. 19, 2011 starting at 11 a.m.
