JEANETTE SOMMERVILLE FRENCH

Jeanette “Sput” Sommerville French of Hayes, departed this world on May 19, 2016 to be in paradise with the Lord.

She was born on June 19, 1958 in Germany while her father was deployed in the military. Sput was a faithful member of Gloucester Church of Christ for 36 years. She also took great pride in her occupation as a rural carrier for over 22 years delivering cheer to her customers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sommerville, and her brother, William Sommerville.

She is survived by her husband of almost 43 years, Calvin L. French; daughter, Cameron Stacie French; son, Corey L. French and his wife Allison D. French. She is also survived by a mother-in-law, many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that she loved dearly.

Sput was a very caring, giving, and loving of God person. Sput touched everyone she knew by her welcoming smile. Sput loved her family, church family, work family, and her two fur babies, Max and Mindy. Sput enjoyed reading the Bible, teaching Sunday school to the children, listening to and singing hymns, and gardening. Sput would ask everyone to please read your Bible daily and follow God’s plan of salvation and the Gospel, so that she can see you again in paradise. She would emphasize and quote Acts 2:38 to whomever she spoke with concerning the Gospel which states, “Then Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Sput will be forever missed for all the lives that she touched in her 57 years.

The family will receive family and friends for a celebration of her life on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Gloucester Church of Christ. Services will be on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Gloucester Church of Christ.
