Jeanette Fowler Barrett, 75, of Hayes, died April 22, 2017, at Sanders Heron Cove. 

She was born Jan. 4, 1942, in Johnston County, North Carolina, to the late Emmitt and Christine Fowler. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy G. Fowler. 

Jeanette is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Wayne Barrett; children, Robin West (Gene) and Kimberly Hemry (Bob); grandchildren, James Ferrell (Sierra), Nicole Hill (Jason) and Daniel West; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Carlee, Bella and Caleb; uncle, Bobby G. Wilder; sister-in-law, Patricia Swank (Bill); nieces; special friends, Molly Tadlock, Betsie Harris, Diane Capps and Eloise Ranier, and a host of other friends.

Jeanette enjoyed dancing (shagging), camping, and NASCAR. Her favorite driver was Davey Allison. Her most favorite thing was going to the beach at Nags Head with chair, umbrella and a cooler of Coors. She retired from Crestar Bank.

At her request services will be private.
