JEAN FRANKLIN JOHNSON

Jean Franklin Johnson, 74, of Gloucester, died June 15, 2016 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Jean was a public school teacher retiring from Chesapeake Public School System in 2004. She was a member of Ware Episcopal Church, the immediate past president of the Garden Club of Gloucester, the Ware River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons, the Gloucester Woman’s Club, and the Portsmouth Service League.

Jean enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking. She was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with them.

She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Johnson Jr.; daughters, Susan J. Estes and husband Jim and their children, Grace, Eli and Samuel, and Clare J. Kincaid and husband Travis and their children, Zach, Maddie and Owen; brothers, Jim Franklin and wife Sara, and Hugh Franklin and wife Gloria, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Grace Franklin, and a brother, Larry Franklin.

A memorial service officiated by the Rev. T. Grant Ambrose was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Ware Episcopal Church. Inurnment was private in Ware Church Cemetery.
