JASON GARDNER THOMPSON

Jason Gardner Thompson of Hayes, was born at Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Va., April 9, 1975. His spirit was called to sit at the feet of Jesus on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013.

Jason received his education from Mary Adkins Christian Academy in Hampton, Abingdon Elementary, Page Middle School and Gloucester High School in Gloucester, Va.; and his diploma from Mathews High School, Mathews, Va. Jason was the recipient of many certificates of training and education in construction engineering, management, automobile and small engine repair, building construction and others.

Jason most appreciated his time spent being with his children and mother. He was grateful for his education in ministry and serving at Youth Challenge, Newport News, Va. Jason spent his days with foremost in his mind to share the love of Jesus Christ through witnessing, teaching, preaching and “walking the talk.” He was actively involved in teaching community Bible studies. He loved anything John Deere and green!

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Junius G. “Tommy” Thompson; grandparents, Leonard and Alice Thompson of North Carolina, and William “Bill” and Mina G. Eubank of West Virginia.

Jason is survived by his children, Lilly Jean Thompson and Alexander Grant “Alec” Thompson of Mathews; his mother, Jean R. “Ms. Ruth” Thompson; sister, Lynne Furr and husband Larry and their daughter, Barbra of Hayes. Jason will be remembered by friends and family to include cousin Jean Dow of Indiana; the Rev. Troy Collier and staff of Youth Challenge; Brenda Jenkins, Joe Culkin, Victor Baez-Santiago; Chaplain Ellis Hall and others at Gloucester County Jail; also, Margaret, Tommy and David Thompson; three half-sisters; Sandra Mooreland and other aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial celebration of Jason’s life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes for donations in Jason’s memory be made to the Rev. Troy Collier, Youth Challenge, 332 34th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607 and notes of condolence to his family may be sent to Lynne Furr, 3555 Providence Road, Hayes, Va. 23072 and will be greatly appreciated.
