JANIS WEDDINGTON WADDELL

Janis Weddington Waddell passed away on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at her residence in Mathews (Birdwood).

Janis was born in Concord, North Carolina, on April 7, 1942. She grew up in Florence, South Carolina, moved to Northern Virginia in 1965; later settled in Mathews in 1992.

She fell in love with the community and her home. Her life was full of many loving friends and traveling to many wonderful places with her husband and friends. She also had a passion for cooking, gardening and good wine.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Dick Waddell; her cherished sister, Ellen Maxwell (David), and children, Todd Williamson, Richard Williamson (Christine), Steven Waddell and Deborah Miller (Bob); along with six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and her loving feline companion, Shadow.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the residence on 1016 New Point Comfort Highway, Mathews, Virginia. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, 160 Main Street, Mathews, Virginia. A reception will follow after the service at the Waddell residence. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S. Kings Highway, Alexandria, Virginia 22306. A reception to follow at the chapel at Mount Comfort Cemetery.
