JANINE LOUISE EMERY

Janine Louise Emery, 70, of Hardyville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, after a courageous battle against uterine cancer, surrounded by her loving husband and daughters.

Janine was born to Ruth and William Tulloch on March 4, 1942 in Saginaw, Mich. She graduated from Vassar High School in 1960 and became an LPN. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Emery, on Aug. 29, 1963, and raised two daughters while working at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Mich., retiring in 1985 after surviving a battle with breast cancer.

Janine was an amazing woman, sweet-natured, caring, and selfless. She truly had a light inside, and it shone so brightly everyone noticed and was drawn to her; a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church, she was a faithful follower and true believer of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed connecting with people, and she brought comfort to countless patients she nursed over her long career. Janine was the heart of her family, the best of mothers, a grandmother beyond compare, and a wonderful and supportive wife.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 49 years, Richard Emery; her loving daughters, Susan Cox and Christine Pedersen; her son-in-law, Philip Pedersen; her beloved grandchildren, Willow and Wyatt Pedersen; her two “volunteer daughters,” Mandy Faulkner and Lorie Lyons, and her sweet “dog-dog,” Pepper. Janine is also survived and fondly remembered by her siblings, Rod (Charlotte) Tulloch, John (Polly) Tulloch, and Tina (Duane) Robinson, plus six special nieces and nephews and their spouses, and many cousins and great-nieces and -nephews.

Janine very specifically did not want any funeral or memorial service. Her wish was that her friends and family would instead use the time to make a memory with loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 2243 Buckley Hall Road, Cobbs Creek, Va. 23035. Condolences and remembrances may be posted and viewed at faulkerfamilyfuneralhome.com.
