Janice Eileen Crosby Stewart, 84, of Mathews, went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 12, 2026. Janice, our “Grandmomma,” loved her home and her family, always putting them first, always making sure they were well fed. She lived her life serving others and served her church well in any role needed. She was a member of Peniel Evangelical Friends Church since the 1970s.

She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Robert J. Stewart Jr., and her parents, John H. and Lorraine G. Crosby.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, the only man she ever loved, Robert J. “Bobby” Stewart Sr.; her three daughters, Alison Stewart Small (David), Beth Stewart Haywood (Butch), and Audrey Stewart; her daughter-in-law, Sherin Stewart, and her husband Dale Mitchem; eight grandchildren, Jacqueline Jose (Dom), Rachel Prieb (Rylan), Anne Swiader (Nicholas), Heidi Hayes, Rachel Brill (Caleb), Elijah Hayes (his girlfriend Barbara), Andy Hunsley, and Evelyn Welsh; and four great-grandchildren, August Chafin, Everett Chafin, Jordan Altman, and Georgia Brill. She is also survived by her two dear sisters, Nancy Powell and her husband Grady and Sue Lilly; her favorite brother, John H. Crosby Jr., as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Coastal Church of Mathews, formerly Peniel Evangelical Friends Church. Burial will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, Mathews. A reception will be held at Coastal Church of Mathews immediately following the burial.
