A funeral service honoring James S. “Jock” Darling Jr. and his wife Mary Lee Oliver Darling will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg. The event will be held in the church and the public is invited to attend. It will be followed by a graveside ceremony and a reception at the Bruton Parish House. Mr. and Mrs. Darling both died in January of this year within two weeks of one other, aged 91 and 90 respectively. Jock Darling was the Organist and Choirmaster at Bruton Parish for 46 years, taught at William and Mary, and was a musical consultant to Colonial Williamsburg. Mary Lee Darling was a teacher and guidance counselor at Walsingham Academy, served on the Williamsburg City Council for 17 years, and was a board member of several non-profit organizations in Williamsburg. The service will also be available for livestream on the Bruton Parish website at www.brutonparish.org.
