On Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11 a.m., Ware Episcopal Church Cemetery will be a graveside inurnment for James Montague Hicks of Gloucester, who died on Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 16, 1946 to the late Percy Montague and Catherine Chism Hicks. He attended Gloucester Day School and was an alumnus of Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., and the Miller School of Albemarle in Charlottesville, Va. In addition to his parents, his sister, Catherine “Patty” Zierow, and her husband Rolf, his beloved niece, Cheryl Hicks Roby, and brother-in-law, Cliff Severn, preceded him in death. Linda Love Hicks, Jamie’s wife, died on March 19, 2024. He is survived by his siblings, Percy Hicks Severn, William “Bill” Hicks and his wife Carolyn, blended family members, Bruce Love, Elizabeth Love George with her husband Aaron, and Kevin Love with his wife Tiffany, and eight beloved grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Catherine Severn Diliberti, husband Richard, Rolf Zierow, wife Debbie, Cliff Severn, and William “Andy” Hicks, as well as numerous additional family and friends.
