James Frederick Gross, 77, of Hayes, passed away April 7, 2018.

James was a retired firefighter for the city of Richmond. As a veteran he served in the Army, 82nd Airborne. He was Past Worshipful Master of the Midlothian lodge #211 and served as former District Deputy of the 16th Masonic district. James was a member of the Abingdon Ruritan Club. 

Mr. Gross was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Gross.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Jane Gross; daughter, Cindy Eubank and her husband Bill; son, James D. Gross and his wife Jeannie; a granddaughter, Cheyann Eubank, and two very special great-grandsons, David and Aidin.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalist Church, 3051 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Abingdon Fire Department, 2146 Mark Pine Road, Hayes, Va. 23072 or the Masonic Home of Virginia, 500 Masonic Lane, Richmond, Va. 23223.
