A funeral for James E. Simon, 62, of Cobbs Creek, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 in New Hope Fellowship Church, Hartfield. He died Oct. 15, 2017.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a member of Wayland Baptist Church, Beaverlett. He earned a brown belt in karate. 

Survivors include a sister, Eva Cooke of Mathews.

Burial was in the cemetery of First Baptist Church, Mathews.
