James David Rowe, 71, of Newport News, died May 24, 2015 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served in Vietnam and received the sharpshooter rifle commendation. He lived life to the fullest, loved the water and especially loved his family. James was born to the late Samuel Sr. and Lady Rowe, the tenth child of 12. 

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Rowe; brothers, Arthur, Harry, Dick, Herman and Bert, and sisters, Lillie Mae, Alice and Annie.

He is survived by sister, Myrtle Boulden and husband Charles; brothers, Samuel Rowe Jr. and wife Mildred, and Linwood Rowe and wife Sylvia.

Graveside service with military honors conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert Carroll Emerson will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery.
