JAMES CROWDER FLETCHER

James Crowder Fletcher, 81, of Alcolu, South Carolina, widower of Iris Merle Soles Fletcher, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1937 in Gloucester, Virginia, he was a son of the late James Bennett Fletcher and the late Gladys German Fletcher. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a retired farmer, and a member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by a son, Mike Fletcher (Nancy); a daughter, Kim Carson (Mike), both of Sumter, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Brianna Gibson (Blair) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Keith Carson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Brooke Carson of Sumter, and two great-grandchildren, Hope and Luke Gibson.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, at New Harmony Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Gordon K. Reed officiating. Burial followed in the DuRant-New Harmony Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were the men of New Harmony Presbyterian Church.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the church.
