James Carroll Lumpkin of Hayes, 70, died Nov. 19, 2017 at St. Francis Nursing Center. James, known to family and friends as “Jitterbug,” was a native of Gloucester, spending most of his life as a waterman or truck driver. He led a simple life, and was quiet, kind and very close to his family. He will be missed.
He is survived by wife, Gloria A. Lumpkin; daughters, Donna Belvin (Robert) and Brenda Taylor; son, Thomas J. Lumpkin; grandchildren, Justin Belvin, Brian Belvin, Kyle Lumpkin and Ryan Lumpkin; special niece, Lori Subervielle, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill West will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Gloucester Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1-1:45 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
