JAMES ALVIN BRISTOW SR.

James Alvin Bristow Sr., of King and Queen, passed away Dec. 8, 2012 at the age of 94.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater, and retired from Chesapeake Corporation.

James loved the land and loved having all his children together with him on his gator. He was known as the unofficial watchman for his neighborhood as James knew all the activities taking place.

He loved to fish and would keep the curtains open so he could view his beloved pond. At all family events James was the team leader and supervisor. He will always be remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.

His wife, Elda Virginia Bristow, preceded him in death.

He is survived by four children, Rosalyn Westerlund, James A. Bristow Jr., Adelle Hendley, Loudene Brandenburg; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service with military honors officiated by the Rev. Bill West will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Hayes. Friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
